大溫兩個選區省議員補選結果出爐，省新民主黨（NDP）周二一舉贏得兩個選區議席，在溫哥華-快樂山選區(Vancouver-Mount Pleasant)，NDP的馬蘭妮(Melanie Mark)得票60%大比數勝出，成為本省首位原住民省議員；至於競爭激烈的高貴林-伯克山(Coquitlam-Burke Mountain)選區，NDP的維根斯(Jodie Wickens)最終勝出。

The B.C. NPD’s by-election candidate in Vancouver-Mount Pleasant supports the transfer of St. Paul’s Hospital to the district.

Melanie Mark said the relocation of the health-care facility from the West End, a plan opposed by local New Democrat MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert, has been “long overdue”.

Premier Christy Clark has set the by-election date for Feb. 2 for the vacant ridings of Vancouver-Mount Pleasant and Coquitlam-Burke Mountain

VICTORIA — Voters in two Metro Vancouver ridings will elect MLAs next month.

Premier Christy Clark on Tuesday set a Feb. 2 byelection for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant and Coquitlam-Burke Mountain.

The NDP’s Jenny Kwan resigned her Vancouver-Mount Pleasant seat in July, and Liberal Doug Horne resigned his Coquitlam-Burke Mountain seat in August. Both ran in the federal election. Kwan is now the federal NDP MP for Vancouver East.
